Most registries redact personal contact details to comply with privacy law, showing "REDACTED FOR PRIVACY" instead. The registrar, the dates, the name servers and the status codes stay public, and the registrar abuse contact is still reachable.
Yes, in most cases. When a registry replies that it holds no matching object, the name is almost certainly unregistered, and we say so. Registration itself happens at a registrar, not here.
Yes. Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address and the query goes to the regional internet registry responsible for that block, returning the network name, the range and the organisation it is allocated to.
Answers are cached for a few hours so registry servers are not hammered with repeat queries. Records that report a name as unregistered are cached for a much shorter time.
There is no single WHOIS format. Country registries publish their own layout, and some publish very little. Whatever we cannot map into the summary is still visible in the raw record at the bottom of the page.
